It's when a part of the glyph is shown against a background/context to render the concept. This part is enhanced (for example with colours).

Concept-Question: "What is the relationship between the enhanced element and the context in which it is placed?"
Note: Usually from this strategy an entire glyph-set can be derived.
opposition of concepts, "Bongard approach"
Two opposites are shown, one of which is enhanced (for example with coloured background).The reader should infer the concept understanding what is the difference between the two parts of the glyphs, between the opposed elements.
Examples created:
Examples planned: rich (contra-poor), absent (contra-present)
Concept-Question: "What is the relationship of opposition between the two parts, and which one of the two opposite concepts is the one depicted?"
Note: Usually from this strategy two glyphs (the two opposites) can be derived.
generalization of the concept out of similarity, "inverse Bongard approach"
Various examples are shown and the reader should infer the concept as the common element between the examples shown.
Examples created:
Examples planned: "drink" (showing a person drinking and also a gyraffe with neck down to drink water from a pond)
Mathematical analogy: "greatest common divisor"
Concept-Question: "What is the relationship of similarity between the different elements present in the image?"
Note: the examples should be numerous enough to pin down uniquely the concept, without creating ambiguity or affecting readability.
